2009 O-Pee-Chee Blaster Box (Packs 1 & 2)

So, I was at Wal-Mart today and could not resist the urge to buy a blaster of OPC. This is the second blaster I've bought and overall, I like the product. From strictly a autograph collector point of view these cards are pretty good -- clean design, nice photography, and a non-glossy surface. I can't wait to get some of these signed!

I don't have time right now to post the whole box, but I'll bust open 2 packs to hold me over until later.

Pack #1
Brandon Moss
Ryan Garko
Ricky Nolasco (Black)
Brian Schneider (New York, New York insert)
Brett Anderson (Rookie)

Decent, even though I didn't pull any Phillies. That is the first New York, New York insert I've pulled so far. Thicker and glossier, but an attractive looking card. Too bad it's a Met...

Pack #2
Nick Blackburn
Ryan Braun
Jason Kubel
Kurt Suzuki (Black)
Mariners TC
Scott Rolen

Two Twins, but no Phils??? The more I see the black parallels, the more I like them. I may have to dust off my set collecting status and go for the whole set.

Ok, so only 13 more packs to go...

I'll post some pics later, too.

Fabio Castro 6/25/2009

c/o Las Vegas 51s

Fabio graciously returned my first success for my 2008 Reading Phillies set. Castro was traded at the end of the 2008 season to the Blue Jays to complete a trade for Matt Stairs. He is currently with the Las Vegas 51s.

"Deacon" Jones - 6/25/2009

c/o Home

"Deacon" Jones kindly signed this 1963 Topps that was already signed by Len Gabrielson and also signed a custom 4x6 for me. If you are interested in the address, comment or email me.

Custom Phillies Draft Cards - Kelly Dugan

Fun with Photoshop, yay! I totally ripped this design off of the 1988 Fleer All-Star Team set. I was really just looking for a simple design that I hadn't seen anyone do before and this is what I came up with. Let me know if you like it. I may actually print some of these off and send them out to be signed.

J.J. Furmaniak 6/16/2009

c/o Lehigh Valley IronPigs

Backtracking a few days for this one. Received this one back after 56 days, I believe. I'm pretty happy with how this card turned out since I've gotten back some 04 Topps with horribly bubbled sigs, even with prepping.

J.J. was drafted way back in 2000 by the Padres and didn't make his MLB debut until 2005 with the Pirates. In 2006 he was granted free agency and signed with the A's. In 2007, he refused an outright to the minors and was again a free agent. In December of 2008 he signed a minor league contract with the Phillies.
